About

Who makes this and why

Search today for how a slot machine works or whether the martingale works, and almost everything you find is written by someone who makes money when you play. This site is the other version, with the numbers in plain sight.

Who makes it

I am Ángel Zamora Martínez, PhD in Psychology and data analyst. I make this site on my own, with no funding from anyone. I write the text, code the simulators and run the analyses. All the code is on GitHub.

Why it exists

The top search results on roulette, RTP or betting systems tend to come from online casinos, bookmakers and sites paid a commission for every player they send. They present RTP as a way to choose better what to play, not as what it is: the share of every euro the house keeps.

Here every claim can be checked. The simulators use the real rules of each game, the analyses use public data and anyone can rerun the calculations. And anyone who arrives wondering whether gambling is costing them too much finds a concrete path to do something about it.

What this site will never do

  • Gambling advertising. No ads for bookmakers, casinos or lotteries.
  • Affiliate links. I take no commission for sending anyone anywhere.
  • Track you. No cookies, no third-party analytics, no ad pixels. Fonts are served from here, not from Google.
  • Store your answers. The questionnaire and the personal plan in The Way stay in your browser. They never reach a server.

How it works

  • Every figure links to its source. Sources, techniques and their limits are in Methods.
  • Every page says when it was last reviewed.
  • Everything comes in two versions: a plain one, without jargon, and a technical one, with formulas and code.
  • When something is wrong, it gets fixed, and the fix is recorded in the repository’s public history.

What it is not

This site informs. It is not clinical care and does not replace a professional. If gambling is hurting you, Get help lists free helplines and resources. If you are thinking of harming yourself, call your local emergency number.

Contact and corrections

If you spot a mistake, an outdated figure or something that could be explained better, open an issue on GitHub. If you are with a charity, a university or the press and want to use the material, go ahead: the code is MIT-licensed and the text can be quoted with a link to the page.
